HCA Tours the St. Arnold’s Brewery
This month the Houston Contractor’s Association broke from its usual tradition of having a member luncheon with a speaker to address the group and opted for a purely fun event, a tour of the local St. Arnold’s Brewery. The brewery, originally founded in 1994 by two Rice University graduates, Brock Wagner and Kevin Bartol, was originally located in a warehouse district in Northwest Houston. In 2009 the brewery purchased a three story 104,000 square foot brick building located just off I-10 north of downtown Houston. The building built in 1914 was most recently used as the HISD food service facility. After a massive redevelopment project, the company officially moved into their new location in the spring of 2010. The new location increases the brewery’s capacity to a maximum of 100,000 Barrels per year. St. Arnold’s brewery has nine beers that it brews year round, seven that are seasonal only and an additional six that are special brews. The special brews are beers that are brewed with a limited quantity and when they are gone, they are gone. To see a full list of their beers with a description of each, click here.

The tour was a big hit with our members drawing over 150 attendees for a buffet lunch, tour of the brewery and all the free beer you could drink. Each attendee also left with a complimentary, commemorative pint glass as a gift from HCA. Click here to see pictures of the luncheon and the tour.
HCA Hosts its Spring Golf Tournament.
The Houston Contractors Association was proud to host its annual Spring Golf Tournament during the month of May. With perfect spring weather in place, almost 300 golfers, 18 beverage carts and six station sponsors enjoyed a wonderful day of golf at Black Horse Golf Club. This event is a shotgun scramble consisting of six man teams and is designed to be a fund raiser for our industries political action committee, HOUCONPAC.
HCA would like to thank everyone who came out and participated in the event. We would especially like to thank all of our sponsors, raffle prize contributors, and Sign & Supply for donating all of the cart and hole signs. A big thank you also goes out to the members of the HCA Golf Committee and especially its chairman, Richard Greer for pulling the event together and to our volunteers, thank you all for making this a fantastic event.
