Electronic Bidding for Contracts

All HCA Members:

I am happy to announce that as of March 25th's Houston City Council meeting, the City is now authorized to use electronic bidding to award contracts.  This is a new tool for the city and will be available for use by all departments.  This is something that HCA has been working toward for several years now, and I want to thank everyone who has been associated with this project.  Director Haddock and her staff have been instrumental in getting electronic bidding through all of the internal hurdles at the city and without their support this would not have happened.

According to Director Haddock, it will take some time for the ordinance to work its way through the process now that it has been passed by City Council.  Public Works will also need some time to implement and train their employees, but expect to see electronic bidding rolled out around July 1^st.
