HCA Cancer Fundraiser

Wednesday, May 20, 2015

The Houston Contractors Association this month gathered together to hold a fundraiser to benefit two of its members recently diagnosed with cancer.  The fundraiser was held at radio personality, Michael Berry’s Redneck Country Club and raised over $120,000 for the two families through donations, entry fees and auction prizes.  There were over 350 attendees at this private, industry only event where HCA covered the food, drinks and the live band.  HCA members graciously donated 42 silent auction items, 23 live auction items and several sports memorabilia items brought out by Diamonds in the Rough.  Some of the more notable donated items were a five day stay at a Crested Butte vacation home, a seven day Royal Caribbean cruise for two and a four pack of tickets to the Dallas Cowboys Owners/Founders Club.  There were also multiple hunting, fishing, wine and rodeo packets donated as well.  When asked about the event HCA President Sherry Barker stated, “Despite the competitive nature of our industry, it is amazing how we all come together to support one of our own in a time of need.”

HCA would like to take a moment to thank those individuals who donated auction items to this event and also the volunteers that donated so much of their time to make this event the great success that it was.
