HCA Support’s the City of Houston’s Rebuild Houston Program and Proposition A
The Houston Contractors Association (HCA) is taking an active role in supporting the Mayor, City of Houston and the Rebuild Houston Program by supporting Proposition A.
Proposition A will appear on the November 6th election ballot and is asking voters to re-affirm their support for the lockbox portion of the Rebuild Houston program. Since its initial approval by the voters in 2010, Rebuild Houston has succeeded in paying down half of the $2.4 billion in public improvement bonds related to streets and drainage. It has realized an additional $250 million in additional project funding in 2017 alone and this number will increase to $420 million by 2026, all allocated for street and drainage projects.
If Proposition A fails, this could all go away leaving the City with no replacement funding sources.
HCA has set a goal of raising $100,000 to support the November 6th election. To emphasize the seriousness of this election for our industry, HCA’s HOUCONPAC Board of Directors has voted to donate the first $10,000. We are looking to our membership to donate the remainder of the funds to fill this pledge. Donations of all levels are welcome. Checks should be made payable to “Keep Houston Strong PAC” and sent to the HCA offices to be aggregated with other member’s donations. Companies and individuals that donate to this cause will be recognized by the association on a special page on the web site. You can also donate through the HCA web page and pay with a credit card for predetermined amounts or click “bill me” to have your company invoiced. Click here to donate now on-line.
“Keep Houston Strong PAC” is a special purpose PAC created for the sole purpose of supporting the Rebuild Houston, Proposition A ballot initiative. “Keep Houston Strong PAC” can accept all forms of donations including corporate as well as private donations, and you are not limited by a maximum donation amount. Please consider donating both from your company and personally for this highly important bond election.
